Firefly Talks & Walks
Fireflies are teaching us an important lesson about lighting sufficiency. Sometimes we rather need a faint signal of light to get familiar with the measure of brightness of an authentic nightscape than a portion of light, which provides us with visual confidence.
In this regard the designed constellations of lighting elements “Fireflies Talks & Walks” don’t aim to illuminate their surrounding but to reshape the nightscape and consequently our sight from a respective vantage point outdoors.
Each resilient and weather resistant element is made of concrete, in which optical fibres of various diameters have been embedded at the casting stage of the concrete body. An RGBW ring LED source is amenable to dynamic lighting by means of a pixel-compliant DMX controller.
Thus the arrangement of these elements in conjunction with the kinetic potential of alternately emerging and vanishing light signals allows for the composition of various interactive light ensembles, which can be creatively synchronized with the soundscape of the respective site.
